The social networking service, Multiply, allows users to share photos, videos, blogs in a network. It has embarked on strengthening their presence in Southeast Asia by opening offices in Manila & Indonesia last October. As such, they are in need of personnel to work on that goal.

For its Manila, Philippines office, Multiply needs;
  • Multiply Promote Product Manager
  • LAMP Developer
  • Regional Vice President of Online Advertising Sales
  • Merchant Sales Representative
  • Customer Service Representative

For its Jakarta, Indonesia Office;
  • General Manager
  • Regional Vice President of Online Advertising Sales

For its Boca Raton, FL, USA office;
  • Senior Web-based Perl Developer
  • LAMP Developer
  • UI Developer

Interested applicants should check Multiply's job page for the specific qualifications and they can e-mail their resume at multiplyjobs@multiply.com .

Just a disclaimer though. I am not connected in anyway with Multiply, just sharing some information here. Use discretion and common sense when applying for a job. Deal only with authorized personnel of the company you are applying with. One can not be too careful in these days of so many internet and job scams.

I'm sure that Multiply dreams of achieving what Facebook had. They can only do so if they can attract great and creative minds. These hirings are certainly step into that direction.

84, 000 BPO Jobs Await Filipinos in 2011

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Here's another reason for Filipino jobseekers to be more optimistic this 2011. The Department of Labor & Employment (DOLE) announced that 84,000 BPO jobs will be offered this year.

The Business Process Outsourcing industry is one of the bright spots of the Philippine economy. Apart from the more commonly known call center positions, the industry provides BPO jobs that also include medical trascription, accounting services, software development and online marketing jobs.

The other good news is that TESDA will be offering free six-month training courses and those who will graduate from the training will all be absorbed by BPO companies. A quick check of the TESDA website today revealed no further info on how to avail of this free training. Interested applicants are advised to personally check with TESDA or its regional offices.

As BPOs cater to international clients, excellent English-communication skill would be a must. As well as flexibility in handling job schedule usually at night and revolving offwork days. After all, not everyone can land those seemingly lucrative jobs abroad like Canada jobs. Working under BPO companies can be a good training ground in dealing with foreign colleagues and clients much like the ones encountered by Filipinos working overseas.

This blog hopes that all of the 84,000 BPO positions will be soon filled.

January 2011 Visa Bulletin

2011 is the year of the rabbit and they say it's going to be a peaceful year. Good luck to all of us. Happy New Year!

January 2011 Visa Bulletin

Six months from now, Centralized Intake Office will temporarily stop accepting new applications (without arranged employment) under Federal Skilled Worker program. Through another ministerial instruction, a new list of in-demand occupations will be set for priority processing. If your application is not yet filed, this means you still have ample time to send your application to CIO!

If your job classification is not in the current priority list, make sure you get your documents and application forms ready before the end of June 2011. The sooner, the better.
The new list may be made available by July 2011. You should be able to file your application as soon as your occupation opens. The cap on the applications to be accepted may be filled up in just a couple of months.

1,000 applications cap reached
As of this writing, only two occupations have reached the cap so far: Professional Occupations in Business Services (NOC 1122) and Registered Nurses. The cap for nurses was reported to have been reached last month (December 2010). However, it does not necessarily mean that your application is included even if your application was sent to CIO before December 2010. If your application was received past the 1,000 cap, it will be returned unprocessed.

Check your CIO application status
If you want to know that status of your application that was sent to CIO, you can contact Federal Skilled Worker Client Service Unit through their online inquiry form. You will receive an email from them confirming the status of your application.

For those whose application is now in process at the Canadian Visa Office in Manila, you can use online services from Citizenship and Immigratin Canada website to check your status online. Please avoid unnecessary follow up to Canadian Visa office as this only adds up on the delay in the processing. Canadian Visa Office in Manila is now able to process applications within 6 months after CIO Assessment. It used to be 45 days, which was later extended to 90 days and now, 6 months. We contact the visa office to follow up your case after a couple of weeks allowance.

Applications filed before February 2008
For applications filed before February 27, 2008, the latest being processed by Canadian Visa Office in Manila is still Nov 25, 2004. There's no movement since the last update from December 2010 Visa Bulletin.

Documents for submission to CIO
Based on the recent correspondence from CIO, they now require original documents or certified true copies of most of the supporting documents. Originally, the only supporting document that should be submitted in original form is the IELTS Exam result and the rest are just photocopies. Notarized copies are acceptable too. NBI Clearance and Police Clearance from other countries where you stayed before is also best submitted during the first stage of the application. If you submit documents that are not in the required format, your application may be returned unprocessed.

We have a new office!
We now have a new office at SM City North EDSA in Quezon City. It's located at Unit 301, 3rd floor, Building F/North Link Building and is open daily from 9am to 8pm. You can now go there for submission of documents and or inquiry. It is best that you set an appointment first before visiting our office.

Hotel Kutuma Job Scam
Scammers are now really being super creative. This Hotel Kutuma scammer even created a website for the hotel, complete with booking services to make it appear it's real. Don't be a victic of these online scammers.

More than 10,000 PreSchool Teachers Needed by DepEd

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

The Department of Education (DepEd) of the Philippines will be needing more than 10, 000 pre-school teachers for its universal kindergarten program in 2011.

Bouyed up by the 19% increase on its annual budget, the DepEd is set to implement its universal public kindergarten program for 5-year old Filipino children, a headstart in preparing them on the rigors of schooling, on a much bigger scale. In line with this program, pre-school teachers will be very much needed.

Currently, there are 29, 615 preschool teachers in the country, of which only 2,299 are of permanent tenure. These teachers will surely be undermanned to handle 2.5 million preschool children this coming school year, 2011 - 2012.

So this year, DepEd targets additional 700 permanent teaching positions and 10, 000 contractual preschool teachers.

Interested preschool teachers who can help these preschoolers towards their education should always check out the DepEd website for further information.
